Wizz air launches its first ever flight to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from Italy

The new ultra-low-cost route will boost the burgeoning tourism industry in both Italy and Saudi Arabia by ushering in a new era of affordable, hassle-free and point-to-point travel options. Today’s new route is one of 23 routes to Saudi Arabia recently announced by Wizz Air and underscores the airline’s commitment to supporting the country’s growing tourism sector by bringing over a million passengers to the Kingdom. That CEO of Dammam Airports Company, Fahd bin Sulaiman Al-Harbi, welcomed Wizz Air and the start of the airline’s operations at King Fahd International Airport, noting the importance of connecting the Kingdom with the European continent. Wizz Air signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Investment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in [May] 2022. The MoU is supported by the Saudi National Air Connectivity Programme, an initiative by the Ministry of Tourism aimed at boosting the development of the Saudi tourism sector. It reflects a shared vision by the parties on the potential that Wizz Air could bring to the Kingdom to boost tourism demand and thereby make a significant contribution to Saudi Arabia’s projected growth.
