Turkish airlines increases its operations to Panama Tocumen (PTY)


LONDON – Turkish Airlines, the Turkish airline and one of the largest airlines in the world, is expanding its flight schedule to Panama Tocumen, adding three additional weekly flights from October 30th.

The additional three weekly routes will operate on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, along with the airline serving the airport daily with its triangular flight from Bogota, bringing the total number of flights to 10 weekly routes.

With the expansion of service to Panama, Turkish Airlines will be the 10th largest airline in Panama Tocumen with a 0.8% market share. According to Aviacionline through Tocumen Airport statistics, between January and July 2022, over 61,000 passengers flew between Istanbul (IST) and Panama (PTY).

This made it the third busiest European route during that period, trailing only Amsterdam and Madrid.

The TK903 departs Istanbul New Airport at 2:00 p.m. local time and lands in Panama at 8:15 p.m. local time on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Flight TK904 then departs Panama Tocumen at 21:45 and lands in Istanbul at 18:25 (+1 day). The flight will have a scheduled turnaround time of 1 hour and 30 minutes in Panama.

Dreamliner offers customers more


The new flights that will be added to the route will be operated on the airline’s modern and most fuel-efficient aircraft, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which has 30 business class seats and 270 economy class seats.

Business Class is configured in a 1-2-1 configuration, with daybeds, direct aisle access and the renowned service of Turkish Airlines and Do & Co Catering.

Economy Class on the 787-9 Dreamliner is a 3-3-3 configuration and features 17-inch wide seats with approximately 31 inches of legroom between seats and up to 6-inch recline and a 13-inch in-flight entertainment touchscreen.

The 787 Dreamliner has electronically dimmable windows, all seats have a USB 2.0 and a USB C output. Inflight entertainment features live TV.

The Turkish Airlines 787 Dreamliner has a maximum range of 13,950 km with a wingspan of 60 m and a length of 63 m and a top speed of 913 km/h.

Other daily flights via Turkish Airlines triangulation in Bogota (BOG) are operated by a Boeing 777-300ER.

With the airline offering 10 weekly routes to Panama, this will be the airline’s largest route investment in the region since COVID-19 restrictions put an end to global travel.

Additional Service Enhancements


In addition to the service announcement in Panama, the airline confirmed that it will increase services to South and Latin America and the Caribbean for its 2022/23 winter service.

Turkish Airlines will operate flights to Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires on board its A350-900 aircraft, serving GRU daily and EZE four times a week.

Mexico City will operate 11 flights per week using Boeing 787-9 and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, continuing from MEX to Cancun (CUN).

Caracas is served daily by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, three of which operate via Havana.
