The Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship is a partnership between the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Departments and Clore Leadership, offering mid-career professionals in the arts and culture sector an exceptional opportunity to complete a bespoke leadership program in the UK. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office funds up to five international fellows to become part of a cohort of approximately 20 fellows from across the UK and internationally through the Clore Leadership Fellowship Programme. The program has trained outstanding artists over the past 16 years.
The Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship is a tailored leadership development program designed to enrich and transform cultural practice and engagement through the development of leadership potential, acumen and skills.
The Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship brings together some of the most creative and dynamic cultural leaders in the UK and internationally for an intense personal and professional learning experience second to none. The Clore Leadership Fellowship supports you in becoming the leader you have the potential to be through informed learning tailored to your individual needs, aspirations and circumstances.
The fellowship runs from September 2023 to March 2024 in 2023 with a loose framework designed to encourage the development of exceptional cultural leaders at a pivotal point in their careers. It is adaptable and self-directed, so you must be highly motivated and deeply curious.

Applications are invited from individuals from the following countries:

To qualify for a Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship, applicants must:
- Intend to return to the country from which they were selected at the end of the study period
- Possess a degree equivalent to at least a good UK second class honors degree, or equivalent professional training and/or experience
- Have completed at least five years of work (or more as required by Clore Leadership) or equivalent experience by the end of 2022
- Meet the minimum requirements as per the main scholarship program
- You do not have British or dual British citizenship
- Not to be an employee, former employee or relative of an employee* (as of July 2016) of Her Majesty’s Government (including UK Embassies/High Commissions, the Department for International Development, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Department of Defense and the Home Office), the British Council or an official of the Association of Commonwealth Universities
* Note: Immediate relatives are parents or step-parents, siblings or step-siblings, children or step-children, spouses, domestic partners or unmarried (if the couple has been together for at least 2 years).

A Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship includes a training budget of up to £18,500 to cover:
- Up to two return Economy Class flights from your home country to the UK to conduct Fellowship activities
- Accommodation in the UK
- Cost of living in the UK
- An approximately 4-6 week posting to a cultural institution in the UK
- Individually tailored bursary learning plan which may include attending course conferences and other progressive development activities in the UK
- Course and conference fees within the UK
- Training and development costs within the UK

program structure
As part of the Chevening Clore Leadership Fellowship, each International Fellow completes an individually tailored program in the UK which includes:
· Two residential leadership courses in September 2023 and March 2024
· Three-day off-site skills-based workshops
· A two-day Urban Intensive team project
· A 360° guide profile
· A 4-6 week secondment to a UK-based cultural organization (usually in an organization or field very different from your usual workplace or practice) where you will work on a ‘live’ project identified by your host organisation
· Tailored learning opportunities through conferences, courses and study visits and peer/industry networks.
· Targeted support from a mentor or coach.
· Thought leadership exploration through a written provocation paper.
The Scholarship starts in September 2023 with Scholars traveling from their home country to the UK for the 1st Scholarship in September 2023 and then returning to their home country in early October.
