Momentum is building for Etihad’s upcoming passenger train in the United Arab Emirates. It is all geared towards speeding up, facilitating and improving transit between the emirates by 2030. To integrate state-of-the-art technology into its operations, Etihad Rail has signed partnership agreements with world-leading companies. Each train will have more than 400 seats and will travel at speeds of up to 200 km/h.
Better service for passengers at Etihad Rail
Four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) have been signed by the UAE Federal Railway System and SNCF International. SNFC is France’s national railway company. The agreements cover important issues such as cargo transit, stations, facilities and services. The maintenance and operation of the railway is also part of the agreement.
The MoU with Thales also devotes much attention to the digitization of Etihad Rail’s services. The two parties will cooperate in a variety of areas under the terms of interconnection and commuter entertainment system, reservation and booking system and more.

The MOUs with Progress Rail also aim to address potential alternatives for creating and implementing an automated, zero-emission port-to-port model. This would lay the foundation for future rail services around the world. This will support sustainability in the rail industry.
