Robert Vadra says sorry for violating travel terms, verdict on ED plea tomorrow | Latest News India

A court in Delhi on Wednesday reserved its order until tomorrow at the request of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to forfeit the fixed deposit and start a court case against businessman Robert Vadra for violating conditions imposed by the court on foreign travel.

Vadra, the husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, offered an unconditional pardon in court, although the ED said a case should be brought against him. In an affidavit, Vadra said he made an accidental mistake and wrote “about Dubai” instead of “to Dubai” in his travel permit application. Vadra is currently on bail in a money laundering case filed by the ED.

A Delhi court had previously expressed displeasure with Vadra for allegedly breaching conditions imposed on him by the court last month while allowing him to travel to the UK via the United Arab Emirates.

On August 12, a city court had allowed Vadra to travel to the UK for four weeks via the United Arab Emirates, Spain and Italy.

In an order Monday, Special Judge Neelofar Abida Parveen took exception to Vadra’s explanation for his stay in Dubai due to medical needs during his trip to the UK, saying she could not accept Vadra’s claim that he was coerced or the circumstances his health.

The court issued Vadra a notice of cause and asked why his time deposit receipt (FDR), issued under the May 12 order,

The court further said that a copy of the travel tickets indicated that Vadra was to stay in Dubai from August 25-29 and would then travel to London on August 29.

“I cannot accept the claim contained in paragraph 5 of the affidavit as solely confirming the applicant that the applicant was forced/forced to remain in the UAE in the circumstances due to medical requirements while traveling to the UK via the UAE for the simple reason that the itinerary submitted on August 22 and a copy of the travel tickets show that Vadra intended all along to stay in Dubai from August 25 to 29 and then travel to London on August 28,” said the court at its disposal.
