Authorities in Mexico have issued an arrest warrant for the 25-year-old woman seen on video Shanquella Robinsonaccording to ABC7. The woman was not named in the warrant but is called “the direct attacker” in the case.
The local prosecutor for the state of Baja California Sur, Daniel de la Rosa Anayaconfirmed the news and said Mexican authorities are working with Interpol and the US to extradite the individual.
“This case has been completely clarified, we even have a court order, an arrest warrant has been issued for the crime of femicide against the victim and against an alleged criminal, her friend who is her direct attacker,” he said. .
“Actually, it wasn’t a quarrel, but rather a direct attack. We are completing all the relevant procedures, such as the Interpol alert and the request for extradition to the United States of America. There are two Americans involved, the victim and the culprit.”
Robinson died on October 29 one day after she left her home in Charlotte, North Carolina to go on vacation to San Jose del Cabo with some friends. Her mother, Salamondra Robinson, that her daughter’s friends called her and said she died of alcohol poisoning. However, she later learned from the authorities that Robinson died of a broken neck and a fractured spine.
A video was also circulated on social media that showed a nude Robinson being beaten by another woman, later identified as Daeja Jackson. Robinson did not fight back and appeared to be trying to escape when her attack was recorded. The FBI announced on November 18 that they had begun an investigation into her death.
According to ABC news, Robinson’s traveling companions called for help at around 2:13 pm and a doctor from the American Medical Center arrived at 3 pm Her friends told the doctor that Robinson had been drinking too much alcohol. The doctor suggested to transfer her to the hospital but her friends refused.
Robinson began to have a seizure around 4:20pm, prompted by one of her friends, Winter Essence Donovanto call 911. The doctor performed CPR until paramedics arrived, but Robinson was pronounced dead at 5:57 p.m., Robinson’s mother said ABC news that it was a “good feeling” to finally get the authorities to act.
“I feel so good, that’s a good feeling. That’s what we’ve been waiting for, to finally hold someone accountable and arrest them. I can’t wait for justice to be served.”
