WATSONVILLE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aug. September 2022–
Granite (NYSE:GVA) announced today that it has been awarded two construction contracts valued at approximately $107 million for State Highway 288 near Houston, Texas. Combined with the previously announced $40 million contract for another segment of SH 288, the additional segments will bring Granite more than $145 million for work on SH 288. The contracts have been awarded and are funded by the Texas Department of Transportation. They are expected to be included in Granites CAP for the third quarter.
Collectively, the two projects — one focused on SH 288 at Cedar Rapids Parkway and the other on SH 288 at Dubuque Parkway — span 24 lane miles on a six-mile four-lane highway. The scope of work includes the construction of five new bridges, the reconstruction and reconfiguration of entry and exit ramps approaching the new structures, and new elevation separations. Granite will construct a batch concrete plant to provide material for these projects.
With the recent completion of the Grand Parkway project, Granite teams are poised for a seamless transition to work on SH 288. “The close collaboration between our operations and estimation teams was critical to the success on bid day,” said Domingo Gonzalez , Granite Project Manager. “These adjacent projects are also an opportunity to continue our successful partnership with the local TxDOT teams to provide the infrastructure that people need.”
The start of the project is scheduled for autumn 2022, with expected completion for summer 2024.
