Japan deals: $555 in economy or ride in ANA’s The Room for $2,700

If you’ve been waiting for the green light to plan a trip to Japan for a couple of years, it’s time to celebrate and seek out flight deals as the country has finally eased entry requirements for individual tourists.

This weekend, we have two offers that can help you kickstart your travel plans for next year, including cheap flights from the west coast and a way to travel in style from the east coast, while also visiting a second country.

If you’re a short drive from Los Angeles, or if you can find a cheap positioning flight to take you to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), you can get to Tokyo and back for around $ 550 round trip during the first months of 2023.

Meanwhile, if you read Content Director Eric Rosen’s review this week on ANA’s Japan-based business-class product called The Room and hope to find a premium seat aboard one of those ANA Boeing 777-300ERs, there are good news: you can fly into The Room for much of 2023 for a fairly reasonable cost, provided you are willing to continue from Tokyo to Jakarta … which, by the way, puts you in a prime position to visit Bali .

How to book: We suggest you search for the best route on Google Flights, then book directly with the airlines.

Examples of flights

Cheap deals for Tokyo are available during the first months of the year for around $ 550 from Los Angeles.

We see prices from other US cities, including major airline hubs, at double the cost of flights from LAX. For this reason, you may want to check the availability of rewards or flight offers to Los Angeles to get you ready for your flight across the Pacific.

One of the anomalies of this agreement is that much of the better availability is for a departure on American Airlines and a return flight on Delta Air Lines, or vice versa.

For example, here’s a February itinerary: You’ll depart LAX mid-morning aboard Delta Air Lines, for the 12-hour, 25-minute long-haul flight to Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND). To get that $ 552 fare, your return trip aboard American Airlines includes a stopover at Dallas / Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), but it’s a quick layover of less than two hours.

If you have global entry and can clear customs quickly, this should give you enough time to refuel at one of DFW’s airline lounges before the last leg of the return trip to Southern California.

Business class offers for Tokyo

While the cheap budget fares are a great find, there is also availability on flights to Japan with much more comfort and luxury, particularly on the long-haul part of the journey. Right now, one of the most convenient ways we’ve found to get to Tokyo is to book a multi-city itinerary to another destination, with a scheduled stopover in Tokyo.

In this case, you can book ANA business class through its The Room accommodations aboard its 777-300ER aircraft, before continuing on to Jakarta.

Looking for business class options between New York and Tokyo (as well as many other U.S. cities) for early 2023, you’ll find prices ranging from $ 4,000 to $ 7,000, round trip.

There are ways to pay less, though, and it’s actually about lengthening your trip, adding flights, and seeing another country. (There could be worse ways to save money, right?)

Looking for multi-city itineraries from New York to Jakarta, Indonesia, with a stopover in Tokyo, you can get round-trip fares on this premium cabin starting at $ 2,699 for next year. This is a way to stop in Tokyo and possibly spend more time in Tokyo than in Jakarta, depending on how you book your trip.

Business Basics

Airline companies: ANA.

Path: Multi-city itinerary from New York to Tokyo to Jakarta and Jakarta back to New York.

Travel dates: from January to August 2023; with some availability during the year.

How to book: Search for your itinerary on Google Flights, then book directly through the airline.

Examples of flights

Here is one such option that ANA business class availability in the $ 2,600 to $ 2,700 price range can offer you.

Go to Google Flights to search for business class availability. Connecting a departure on May 9 from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), it’s a 14-hour flight to Tokyo. You can play with the dates for the next leg of the trip, from Haneda to Jakarta, bearing in mind that the price will fluctuate based on each departure date, as it would any trip.

GOOGLE FLIGHTS

I’ll give myself a week in Tokyo, and then a week in Indonesia. On the return journey, you will have to stop in Tokyo again, but if you don’t want to spend much time there, you can simply enter a flight from Jakarta to New York. That’s a two-week trip for $ 2,699 in airfare for a premium seat.

GOOGLE FLIGHTS

After finding the itinerary, you can visit ANA’s website to actually book and there you can verify that the long-haul part of the journey is, in fact, on an ANA plane with The Room.

By entering the same dates, you will get details on each stage of the trip after clicking on “search”.

And from here, you can see, for the New York-Tokyo flight, “The Room” is, in fact, the optioned business class service; it’s the same story on the Tokyo to New York part of the return journey.

Keep in mind that in Jakarta you can explore the city or take a short flight or train ride to visit Bali and its many amazing locations, beaches and sights.

Bottom line

We will certainly be on the lookout for more great Japan deals as travelers will be looking to get to the country now that it is open again. Whether you’re looking for the cheapest budget option or traveling with a little more style from NYC and check another destination like Bali off your bucket list, these are both great deals to consider for 2023.
