This is the season to eat, splurge, be merry, give thanks and give back to the community. When we recently visited Jamie’s Italian, a restaurant based in Delhi, British celebrity chef Oliver tasted the joy of giving with his unique Plate for a Plate Christmas menu.

A delicacy
Jamie’s Italian menu features a fine selection of appetizers and antipasti, including non-vegetarian planks, ravioli and gnocchi, while tapenade with house-made black olives and sun-dried Belsimo bread sets the mood. Another tasty starter is the jalapeño corn brisket and golden fried chicken with peri-peri sauce on the Christmas menu.
Basic training
If you like meat cooked in fat, order the Tagliattella Bolognese. But the clear winner for us is the holiday roast duck leg. This slow-cooked meat is served with couscous salad, rosemary potatoes and plum sauce.
Dessert
Another clear winner is the Torta Dell’Amore, a rich chocolate sponge with ganache, mascarpone layer cake, fresh raspberries and pistachios. It is creamy, moist and melts in your mouth. If there’s something boozy about Christmas, be sure to try Jamie’s Rum Babà Cake on the Christmas menu. It’s sponged with rum-soaked Chantilly cream and topped with glazed strawberries.
Drink
Among the variety of mocktails available at Jamie’s Italian, the shining star is the Tropical Punch. This drink combines orange, cranberry, passion fruit, lime, mint, pineapple and grenadine with tropical lemonade. As promised, it really packs a tropical punch!

This Christmas, Delhi-based Italian Jamie Oliver is running a special charity menu, Pate for a Plate. As part of this effort, Chef Jamie Oliver has prepared some special holiday dishes. For every plate sold, the team will donate a plate of food to Future Hope, a Kolkata-based charity.
