IdeaFest 2022 returns with variety of contemporary themes – Lifestyle

This year’s festival explores visual arts, sustainable lifestyles, culinary arts and music, among other things.

IdeaFest, Indonesia’s largest creative industry festival, is back on Thursday and will continue until Sunday.

This year’s IdeaFest has the theme “Re:ality Re:defined”, and features more than 100 discussions with over 300 speakers.

The festival seeks to encourage the development of creative industries in Indonesia. This year’s topics include NFT trends, visual arts, sustainable lifestyles, culinary arts and music. One event presents Takashi Murakami, a popular name in the world of contemporary art.

Ben Soebiakto, co-chairman of IdeaFest 2022, told reporters that IdeaFest is trying to inspire younger creators after the pandemic has profoundly changed people’s perspectives.

“The Re:ality Re:defined topic was selected because a lot has changed after the two-year pandemic, thereby changing the mindset in this industry, so it’s redefining the word,” said Ben at a press conference at the Jakarta Convention Center on Thursday.

With IdeaFest featuring speakers from the fields of media, music and other economic and creative fields, Ben hoped that creative industry players could make changes to the status quo.

“Because we want people to be inspired with this IdeaFest, where there are real entrepreneurs who are born, which leads to the creation of the ideas,” Ben continued.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandigaga Uno also attended the press conference and advocated innovation and collaboration.

“Innovation never stops innovating. Adaptation is always flexible – because life changes almost constantly, so we have to keep adapting. And the third thing is collaboration, which is a collaboration of space,” said Sandigaga.

This creative economy industry has 1.1 million jobs in the country with exports worth Rp. 2.2 billion (US$ 140,512.24).

“The creative contribution to the economy of Indonesia is ranked as the third largest in the world. The Indonesian creative industry has contributed at least 7.4 percent of the total economy of the country,” said Sandigaga.

He added that a young person working in the creative world is not afraid of failure.

“So, everyone, never stop innovating, adapting and collaborating,” said the 53-year-old minister.
