Holland America Offers Longer Cruises, More Ports in Europe 2024

Holland America Line has completely revamped and rejuvenated its regular European itineraries for the 2024 season, offering longer itineraries, new ports of call and longer stays to deliver an immersive guest experience. Four different ships cruise the region, giving travelers plenty of options to explore Europe perfectly.

Four ships to offer dozens of itineraries

Four Dutch American flagships will offer European yachting in 2024, including two Pinnacle-class vessels, Nieuw Statdam and brand new Rotterdamas well as sister ships of the Vista class Osterdam and Zuiderdam.

“Holland America Line’s 2024 European season is our biggest renewal in the region in a long time.” said Beth Bodensteiner, Chief Commercial Officer, Holland America Line. “We’re excited to introduce new itineraries, multiple 14- and 21-day itineraries, and unique combinations of different cities and countries.”

Flexibility to go

There are nine cities available in Europe for the 2024 season: Amsterdam, Ijmuiden and Rotterdam in the Netherlands; Barcelona, ​​Spain; Civitavecchia (Rome) and Trieste (Venice), Italy; Copenhagen, Denmark; Piraeus (Athens), Greece; and Reykjavik, Iceland.

Transatlantic cruises moving to Europe call Boston, Massachusetts and Fort Lauderdale, Florida A total of 11 unique departure points have been added to the list.

This allows guests to make any interesting choice in their pre- or post-trip itinerary, allowing travelers to delve deeper into European culture and fully appreciate their experience without rushing.

Overnight ports and delayed flights

Other options for a more in-depth experience of popular European destinations include overnight port visits and overnight cruises on Holland America Line’s 2024 itinerary.

Overnight visits are planned to nine top cities in seven different countries: Barcelona, ​​Spain; Civitavecchia and Marghera (Venice), Italy; Haifa, Israel; Istanbul, Turkey; Reykjavik, Iceland; Piraeus (Athens) and Rhodes, Greece; and Valletta, Malta.

In each of these cities, visitors can experience long cruises and exciting nightlife rarely seen on shorter, limited port cruises.

However, an overnight visit is not the only option for an in-depth trip and a longer trip. Holland America Line operates late (between 10:00 p.m. and midnight) flights to 33 different cities in 17 different countries.

Great ports like Dublin, Ireland, are included on late flights; Marseille, France; Liverpool, England; Mykonos, Greece; Port Said (Cairo), Egypt; Tallinn, Estonia; Stornoway, Scotland; and Warnemünde (Berlin), Germany.

Together, these late stopovers, overnight visits and port-rich itineraries offer an unparalleled opportunity to travel Europe. “Holland America Line’s 2024 season is the most diverse we’ve ever offered, with an itinerary for everyone.” Bodensteiner said.

Which ship is where

Northern Europe is a big focus for Holland America Line in 2024, with three of the four ships offering itineraries to the north at least seasonally.

Rotterdam Round-trip sailings from Rotterdam will be offered, including 7- and 14-night sailing options to Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Scotland, Ireland, Belgium, England, Iceland, Finland and the Norwegian Fjords.

Nieuw Statdam Round-trip and one-way sailings from Copenhagen and Rotterdam to the Baltics, British Isles, Northern Isles and Norway. The ship will also make 14-night cruises to the Canary Islands, Medeira, Gibraltar and Spain, and later in the season the ship will offer Mediterranean itineraries from various ports.

Zuiderdam Offering long-haul itineraries that include 14-night sailings in Northern Europe, as well as 21-night Ultimate Viking Explorer voyages, 35 nights of extended exploration across 10 countries and 23 ports. Another pair of longer cruises can be combined aboard the Zuiderdam for 42-night cruises through 21 unique ports of call.

Osterdam The entire 2024 European season will be spent exploring the eastern and western regions of the Mediterranean from various gateways such as Athens, Barcelona, ​​Trieste, Civitavecchia and Piraeus.

Each ship will offer transatlantic sailings in both spring and fall.
