The position of Indonesian tourism in the creative economy continues to rise strongly. After reopening (after the COVID-19 pandemic), it is now up 12 ranks on the tourism index
Solo, Central Java (ANTARA) – The Pesona Indonesia Generation (Genpi) has strengthened the position of Indonesian tourism in the eyes of the world, said Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno.
“The position of Indonesian tourism in the creative economy continues to rise strongly. After the reopening (after the COVID-19 pandemic), it is now up 12 ranks in the tourism index,” Uno said at the 3rd National Coordination Meeting for Genpi at the Novotel Hotel Solo on Saturday.
He said Indonesia’s creative economy is the third largest in the world after the United States and Thailand.

“This is thanks to the support of Genpi. The Pesona Indonesia generation that likes to heal, (remedy for) feelings, as well as refreshing, but does not want their wallets to be empty, let alone a headache,” he noted.
He also praised the Surakarta government for transforming Solo into an international class event venue.
“This requires (participation) from all stakeholders, including the regional chief to the public,” he said.
The development of the tourism sector requires immense cooperation between various stakeholders. It is expected that the tourism and creative economy sectors could create 1.1 million new jobs this year and 4.4 million new jobs in 2024, he added.

He then asked Genpi to inform the public about international class events, including concerts headlined by foreign musicians, and the kind of preparation needed to participate in them.
For example, the recent NCT 127 concert had to be stopped after dozens of spectators fainted while the concert was in progress due to a lack of information on standard operating procedures for the audience, Uno said.
“Actually, the NCT (concert) was held professionally, the concert venue was also large. However, due to the ignorance of the visitors, the concert had to be cancelled,” he added.
