Evan Evans Tours Renews Commitment to Sustainable Travel for World Tourism Day

Travel company Evan Evans’ eco-strategy supports the United Nations-backed global initiative promoting sustainable tourism growth.

Leading UK travel company Evan Evans has renewed its commitment to sustainable travel in support of World Tourism Day.

The London-based company is committed to ensuring its vehicles are as efficient and environmentally friendly as possible to reduce the environmental impact of its guided bus tours.

This has led to the launch of the company’s first all-electric zero-emission coach in time for World Tourism Day, which is celebrated globally on September 27 this year.

The theme of this year’s UN-sponsored World Tourism Day (September 27) is ‘Rethinking Tourism’, which aims to rethink tourism’s role in global development and opportunities for the industry to grow with less impact on the planet.

Tom Macklin, Managing Director of Evan Evans Tours, says: “We fully support the ethos of World Tourism Day and the pursuit of a more sustainable future for the tourism industry.

“At Evan Evans, we recognize our responsibility to ensure our impact on the planet we call home is positive.”

The company is taking steps to address its impact through its sustainability strategy, How We Tread Right.

Launched in 2020, How We Tread Right (HWTR) is Evan Evans’ five-year sustainability strategy, based on the corporate responsibility concept adopted by parent company The Travel Corporation (TTC).

The strategy is based on 11 measurable goals, enshrined in the United Nations Global Goals, addressing climate change, sustainable food production, waste reduction, travel experiences, diversity and inclusion, and wildlife.

Tom Macklin continues: “Sustainability is at the heart of our core business strategy. As part of this, we actively seek ways to reduce our carbon footprint across the business and across our vehicle fleet.

“We regularly update and renew our coaches and guarantee that they meet the highest European emission standards. We are also planning to offer fully electric coaches on more and more tours in the future.”

Evan Evans’ commitment to sustainability is underscored by the company’s involvement as a founding member of the TreadRight Foundation, established to support sustainable tourism projects worldwide. Through TreadRight, Evan Evans has helped fund more than 60 projects that help make a positive impact on tourism.
