The Travel Blog Exchange Conference (TBEX) is a travel bloggers and content creators conference that was launched in Chicago in 2009 thanks to six friends and has since attracted almost 20,000 participants. What started as a bunch of friends getting together to talk all things travel blogging has grown into a hub for creatives and travel brands to grow their community and network and will soon be making its way in July 2023 find Eau Claire.
TBEX has also spread globally, typically in Asia, Europe, and the United States. Previously, TBEX has been held in the Philippines, New York, Florida, Canada and elsewhere, usually spread over a handful of days, with pre-conference and post-conference tours and workshops. In 2023, TBEX will be held in Kalamata, Greece in the spring and in Eau Claire in the summer.
From July 17-21, 2023, TBEX will set down its migratory roots right here, based at the Pablo Center at Confluence. Pre-conference media tours will take place on July 17-18, while the main conference with workshops and speakers will take place on July 19-20, with post-conference tours starting on July 21. Cities to tour after the conference are still being selected, but the hope is to bring the conference writers and influencers to every region of Wisconsin.
“We are very pleased to welcome conference attendees not only from across the United States but also from around the world,” said Benny Anderson, Executive Director of Visit Eau Claire. “Not only does this conference have a direct economic impact on our region, but it also brings a lot of organic and deserved media exposure for our city and local businesses.”
Some well-known traveling artists such as the Nomadic Boys (@nomadicboys on Instagram), Scott Eddy (@mrscotteddy on Instagram and TV host of Video globetrotter), the Vaga Brothers (vaga brothers on YouTube) and more have attended the major travel conference over the past few years.
Visit Eau Claire is the host sponsor of the 2023 conference in our part of Wisco, and the organization has been working on this effort for about two years. Visit Eau Claire PR Manager Luke Alex praised the sales team who identified TBEX as a good candidate for a bid and won after a long bidding process.
“(TBEX) HAS DECIDED THAT EAU CLAIRE IS THE PERFECT CANDIDATE FOR IT.”

“One of the reasons we were able to win the bid was the emerging nature of Eau Claire,” said Alex. “TBEX loves finding each state’s hidden gems and spotlighting them, and after an extensive on-site visit by their team, they decided Eau Claire was the perfect candidate to do so.”
Registration for the conference opened on Friday October 14th and while Visit Eau Claire was unsure of how many tickets had been sold at the time, each conference gathers hundreds of creators and brands.
