In 2022, tourism in Cyprus recovered to about 80 percent of pre-pandemic levels, and according to the Financial Mirror, the island saw around 700,000 fewer visitors than the record 3.9 million in 2019.

In this regard, Savvas Perdios, the head of Cypriot tourism, said that according to the conclusions made last year, Cypriot tourism is more resilient, and now Cypriot tourism does not depend on the Russian market.

Minister Pedrios announced that in 2022, the per capita spending of tourists in Cyprus was 760 euros and in Greece 646 euros, an increase of 12 percent compared to 2019.

Poland, France, Italy, Denmark, Austria and Hungary set historical records for arrivals in 2022, while Germany and Switzerland set 20-year records.

In addition, compared to 2019, last year the total population from EU countries increased by 24 percent, the population from Poland by 133 percent, France by 98 percent, Denmark by 67 percent, and the population from Austria and Hungary respectively. , Italy grew by 58 percent and Germany by 31 percent.

Cyprus received more than three million tourists between January and November 2022, surpassing the number of tourists registered in 2021, according to the Cyprus Statistical Office.

As of the eleventh month of last year, a total of 3.09 million tourists came to the country, which is almost 68 percent more than the 1.8 million tourists registered in 2021.
