There is some big news for coffee technicians, machinists and other equipment specialists today as the Coffee Technicians Guild has announced the return of their in-person summit to be held November 29-30, 2022 outside of Florence, Italy.

This will be held at the Accademia Del Caffè Espresso a little over two months from now and will be the first in-person Coffee Technicians Guild since 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Coffee Technicians Guild is the newest of the three main trade guilds of the Specialty Coffee Association, standing alongside the Coffee Roasters Guild and the Barista Guild. The volunteer-run organization held its first summit in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2016 and events in Houston and Milan, Italy, in 2019.

The venue for the 2022 summit, the Accademia del Caffé Espresso, was opened in 2019 by Italian espresso machine giant La Marzocco. A short drive from Florence city center, the Accademia serves as a brand showroom, museum, innovation hub and design lab, and more.

“We are honored to host the Coffee Technicians Guild Summit,” said Accademia Coffee Education Leader Nora Smahelova in an SCA event announcement today. “Accademia was founded by La Marzocco to promote and improve the culture around espresso coffee and as a manufacturer of espresso machines we know the importance of qualified technicians servicing equipment and supporting local businesses.”
