Cibitung-Cilincing toll road to ease Tanjung Priok congestion

If later the toll road access to the Kalibaru port is also implemented, it is hoped that this will reduce logistics costs by up to 50 percent

JAKARTA (ANTARA) — The Cibitung-Cilicing toll road will help relieve traffic congestion to and from Tanjung Priok port, Minister of Transport (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said.

“If later the toll road access to the Kalibaru port is also completed, it is hoped that this will reduce logistics costs by up to 50 percent,” the minister said here on Tuesday.

The government is consistently and systematically carrying out infrastructure expansion, he added.

According to Sumadi, the development has gone well from the initial phase through the construction phase, the completion of the infrastructure to the connection of the facilities (e.g. the connection of the industrial zone with the port).

The Cibitung-Cilicing toll road would increase the competitiveness of domestic products, thereby attracting domestic and foreign investors to invest in the industrial zone of Bekasi, Karawang and the surrounding areas, he said.

In addition, the construction of toll road access to and from Patimban Port, Subang, West Java, due to be completed in 2024, will also improve the port’s performance.

The presence of Patimban Port will complement the existence of Tanjung Priok Port and facilitate the distribution of national logistics.

“Industrial areas in Bekasi can use the port of Tanjung Priok and industrial areas in Karawang can use the port of Patimban. This will create good competition and further improve the services of the two ports,” he said.

The Cibitung-Cilincing toll road was built and operated by PT Cibitung Tanjung Priok Tollways (PT CTP), owned by PT Access Pelabuhan Indonesia and PT Menara Maritim Indonesia.

The two companies are subsidiaries of PT Pelindo Solusi Logistik (SPSL), a sub-holding of PT Pelindo engaged in logistics and hinterland development.

President Joko Widodo inaugurated the 27.2 km long Cibitung-Cilicing toll road on Tuesday (September 20, 2022).

The road is part of the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) 2 toll road construction project, which aims to further support the flow of goods and logistics from the industrial zones in Bekasi, Karawang and the surrounding area to the port of Tanjung Priok and vice versa.
