Brunello drinking in national wine list awards

If an excellent wine list is as important to you as a menu, then strap on your skates to book at Brunello.

Not only was it recognized for Best Wine List in the ACT at the prestigious Australian Wine List of the Year, it also received the Tony Hitchin Award for Best New List as well as Best Listing of ACT Wines.

Brunello was recognized for excellence at the awards alongside Sydney’s Bennelong, while Brisbane’s Cru Bar + Cellar was crowned Australia’s Wine List of the Year.

Brunello burst onto the local dining scene in December last year as the city’s most wine-centric fine-dining restaurant, offering over 400 bottles and 50 premium wines by the glass, including Grange Hermitage.

Australia’s Wine List of the Year Awards enters its 29th yearth year and took place on Monday night at Sydney’s 12-Micron in Barangaroo after two years of virtual ceremonies.

The awards jury consisted of 30 of the world’s most respected wine talents, with 23 judges from Australia and the rest from New Zealand, Germany, the United States, France, Hong Kong and the UK representing the international jury.

This year’s program saw a record number of entries, even compared to the years leading up to the COVID event, a statistic which judges chairman Peter Forrestal sees as a positive sign for the entire industry.

“We have seen the hospitality industry’s resilience during incredibly difficult times during the pandemic. While many are still struggling, Australia’s 2022 wine list suggests the industry is hitting back,” he said.
