LONDON – Malaysian airline Batik Air, or formerly known as Malindo Air, is shifting its horizons to connecting Perth to nearby Southeast Asian destinations, increasing flights to both the Malaysian capital and Indonesia’s notorious party island of Bali.
Flights to Perth
The airline will launch a new four-weekly flight between Perth and Bali, adding Batik Air to a highly competitive direct route already regularly served by Jetstar and AirAsia Indonesia.
The route between Perth and Bali is very lucrative due to its proximity to other Australian cities. The shorter distance often translates into lower costs, making the route a kingmaker for some airlines.
Air Batik will operate its single-aisle, two-class Boeing 737, which has 12 business class seats in a 2-2 configuration. The layout is similar to Virgin Australia but with an extra row of seats.
On board Batik Air, the boutique business class seats will be domestic style and unfortunately not 180 degrees flat, but 38 inch tilt in a dedicated cabin in front of 150 economy class seats in rows of 3-3 Offer. Economy Class are common as in any other narrow body aircraft.
Passengers will not be bored on these flights. Batik Air offers inflight entertainment with the classic folding screens attached and stowed under the armrest of each business class seat.
The seats are equipped with USB charging ports, which are crucial for charging personal devices. Last but not least, passengers are treated to complimentary premium meals served on metal cutlery to cater to holidaymakers’ palates.
Passengers, particularly in Business Class, will be able to enjoy pre-flight access to Swissport lounges at Perth’s finest Aspire Lounge, The House in Sydney and Melbourne and The Lounge in Brisbane.

OD192 and will depart Perth every week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 7:00am with the flight scheduled to land in Bali at 10:45am.
The return flight, flight number OD193, departs Perth at 1:30 p.m. and arrives there at 5:00 p.m. local time.

The airline will also seasonally connect Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur from December 6, 2022 to February 6, 2023. Melbourne, Perth very similar, flight times on day of travel.
OD174 departs Melbourne at 9:05am on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. This flight arrives at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 02:40 the following day.
The early morning arrival may put some travelers off. For the remaining three days of the week, flight OD176 is scheduled to fly to Melbourne at 7:20 am and return to the Malaysian capital at 12:55 pm.
