Accor, the world-leading augmented hospitality group with 430 hotels in India, the Middle East, Africa and Turkey, has signed its first Mercure property in Kathmandu, Nepal. Set to open in 2023, Mercure Kathmandu will bring 102 keys to the Ring Road, offering great proximity and connectivity to the city’s major attractions and hub.
Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, is steeped in rich history, long associated with ancient traditions and vibrant culture. The hotel is only a short drive from the airport and is close to the bustling city center and iconic city attractions, including many world heritage sites such as the remarkable Swayambhunath Stupa and the holy Hindu temple of Pashupatinath.
The property is being developed by The Metropolitan Hotel Private Limited, along with Desh Bandhu Basnet, Bijaya B. Malla and Rajendra Raut. In addition to business involvement, the three owners are also part of the executive committee of the Nepal Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI), as well as the SAARC Chamber of Commerce.
Set in a valley surrounded by the scenic Himalayas, Mercure Kathmandu is complemented by dining facilities including a fitness centre, indoor swimming pool and state-of-the-art meeting facilities, as well as an all-day dining restaurant and bar.
